Madhya Pradesh Board of Secondary Education (Hindi) (abbreviated MPBSE) is a board of school education in Madhya Pradesh, India. The MPBSE is a government body responsible for managing the administrative, policy-related, cognitive and intellectual direction of the state’s higher educational system. The board supervises and regulates the system of higher education in Madhya Pradesh State. It executes and governs many activities that include devising of prescribing syllabus, conducting examinations, courses of study, granting affiliations to colleges. MPBSE also provides support, direction, and leadership for all educational schools under its jurisdiction. It also runs model schools like the Model High, TT Nagar.
The Madhya Pradesh Legislature, in the 16 years of the Republic of India, enacted an Act for the establishment of a Board to improve Secondary Education in Madhya Pradesh and other ancillary matters. In 1965 this independent body was established under The Madhya Pradesh Secondary Education Act 1965. The MP Board prescribes the syllabus, for candidates from Standard IX to Standard XII, for schools associated with it & exams whose scores are required to gain admission in higher study schools. It handles three board examinations the High School Certificate Examination for standard X, Middle School Exam for Standard VIII and the Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) Exam for standard XII, which is a school leaving exam.
